Italian 'denimy stripe' printed doubleface chambray

From Italian deadstock, this is an excellent quality all-cotton woven, a shirting or dress weight with no stretch and some cottony crispness in the drape. The "denimy stripe" design has a 9/16" horizontal repeat and features bands of vertical stripes and a small-scale lattice in cloud gray on a dark denim blue background. The design appears to be yarn-dyed, but it is printed! The base fabric is woven with dark indigo and white crossthreads for an overall impression of a darker chambray blue, and the print on the face does not show through at all. Have fun with contrasting pattern piece at the collar, cuffs, etc. The weight is highly versatile, and since it is fully opaque this fabric could be used for a great many garments including shirts, a shirt dress, tunic, skirt, etc. Hand or machine wash separately with cold water. Be sure to prewash as this is a very dark indigo wash. please test first. Hang to dry.
